The well-known Red Hot chili pepper song always comes to my mind whenever I am walking under a bridge. Yet, in Athens, the moments to remember this song are pretty rare. The arid urban environment and the uncontrolled expansion of the city makes it really hard, not to say impossible, to find a nice bridge with a river (or stream) running below it.

In Vilnius…well it’s quite the opposite. I have counted at least 9 bridges near the center of the city. Each one more interesting than the other.

Mindaugas bridge is one of the bridges of Vilnius. The 101 meters of the bridge are stretching over Neris river, literally dividing (or connecting) the new city with the old one.

l chose to have a black and white aspect of the bridge, to emphasize the lines and shapes while the setting sun helped with the shadows.

Taken with a Canon EOS 450D, f/3.5, 1/250, 18mm, ISO 100, lens : Canon EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, no filters and no tripod were used in this photo. You can view the photo in a larger resolution in my 500px and flickr pages.

A song for this post…what else? Red Hot Chilli Pepper – Under the bridge
